Hear It From Me
Leading from a community perspective.
By the time I finished my BFA at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I knew collaborating with my peers to make socially conscious art was my calling. After years of producing and teaching theater, opera, and comedy, I felt incredibly connected to my community. But I wanted to make a deeper impact, so in 2021 I received my Master of Science in Leadership for Creative Enterprises in order to strengthen existing nonprofit arts infrastructures and even build a new program or theatre from the ground up.
So it’s no surprise I like new works, finding a new sound and new voices in every story.
I came to Chicago in 2011 and worked in the opera, theatre, and comedy communities creating new works, particularly revolving around social change. I like site-specific productions which stretch my imagination and working to integrate arts programming within the community.
I’ve also had the honor of teaching music and theatre to elementary to high school-aged students, with a focus on using art to process trauma. Education has a big place in my heart and as I’ve stepped out of the classroom and into leadership roles, I carry the responsibility to serve the next generation with me.
I’m now based in San Diego, honing in on where folklore meets the pressing and personal stories of today under Mothgirl Productions and working in Development to create sustainable futures for nonprofits.
When I’m not in the office or the theatre, you’ll find me at home with my shepherd mutt Clem, puttering about with an instrument (or four).
